Women expect a lot of us, guys.

One of the expectations that we struggle the most with is lasting long enough in bed. We don’t really know how long is long enough.

Is 5 minutes the bare minimum?

Is 10 minutes long enough?

Should 20 minutes be the goal?

How about 45 minutes – would that be too long?

One thing is for sure: we can definitely tell when we’ve finished too quickly, can’t we?

But, on average, how short is too short?

I’d say if you regularly last 15 seconds, 30 seconds, or less than 1 minute in bed, then you’re definitely finishing too quickly.

But what if you last 2 minutes? 2 minutes might not seem like a very long time, but it may surprise you to learn that the average guy lasts only 2 to 6 minutes.

Hopefully if you’re only lasting a few minutes, that’ll give you some relief.

Here’s another fact that might surprise you:

The average woman needs 5 to 15 minutes of intercourse to have an orgasm.

This, my friend, is why roughly one-third of ALL men have problems finishing too quickly. Quite simply, the AVERAGE guy does not last long enough to satisfy the AVERAGE woman.

So…. How Long Should YOU Be Lasting in Bed?

That answer, my friend, has to come from you (and your partner).

But one thing’s for sure: If you’re unhappy as a result of your lack of control, then you should do something about it!

And here’s the first step…

The First Step: Create Your Goal

The first step I recommend you take is to create a meaningful, specific goal that will help drive your success.

As with anything else you want to accomplish, the reality is that if you don’t have a goal, you’ll never achieve your goal.

It’s as simple as that.

So here’s how to create a goal that will actually product results for you, and motivate you to last longer.

Make Your Goal Meaningful to You

It’s really important to have a meaningful goal, so that you commit to taking action.

What’s the real reason you want to last longer?

Do you want to feel more confident about yourself?

Do you simply want to enjoy making love, rather than being nervous about it?

If you’re in a relationship, are you concerned that you’re unable to satisfy your partner, and that’s causing you stress and anxiety?

If you’re single, do you want to have the confidence to approach an attractive woman and know that you can take her home and impress her?

Dig deep to find the real reason, even if it’s uncomfortable at first. That reason will be your prime motivation to achieve your goal to last longer.

Next, Make Your Goal Specific

The very act of setting a specific goal changes your whole mindset. It anchors you and sets you in the right direction.

For example, if you say you want to last 5 minutes in bed, you’ll gear your thoughts and actions towards that goal. However, if you say you want to be able to last 30 minutes, your thoughts and actions will be totally different.

It’s as if you were training for a sprint versus a marathon. Wouldn’t you train yourself differently, and start the race differently, if you were going to run 100 meters versus 26 miles? Of course you would. The same thing is true in the bedroom.

Keep in mind, your goal doesn’t actually have to be a specific amount of time. For example, if you realize that your real desire is to satisfy your partner, not to last a specific length of time, then you can be creative about how to accomplish that goal (other than lasting longer in bed). And the funny thing is that this shift in mindset may even remove some of the pressure to perform, and you may end up lasting longer as a result.

Visualize Yourself Achieving Your Goal

Whatever your goal is, form a vivid picture in your mind of exactly what you want to achieve, and what it’s going to look like and feel like to achieve your goal.

Importantly, don’t just visualize yourself in the bedroom… Form a picture of how your entire LIFE would be better as a result of being able to last longer.

Strengthening the PC muscle that extends from your tailbone to your pubic bone is also another technique that not only increases the length of time before a climax; it also increases the power of your climax. The muscle exercise is the Kegel and you can strengthen you PC muscle anywhere once you learn the location. You find the location by stopping your urine flow midstream the next time you go to the bathroom. The muscle you use to do that is the PC. To strengthen it, simply tighten and then relax the muscle throughout the day. You’ll find this also increases the pleasure you receive during a climax. The exercise is also helpful for men with ED.

If you change your focus when you engage in sex, it is helpful in increasing your length of time before a climax and increases the pleasure of your partner. Rather than focusing on your climax, or rather to avoid early ejaculation, you focus on your partners needs. Don’t even begin the act of sex until you’ve spent a considerable amount of time giving your partner pleasure with stroking, massages and other sexually exciting non-penetration sex. Since one definition of premature ejaculation is climaxing before your partner is ready, this improves the potential for their climax in unison with yours.

You can relearn the act by simply lubricating and starting at the beginning. Masturbate with your hands fully lubricated and as you approach your climax, note every detail that leads up to it. The Squeeze Technique

Here’s a question I recently received from one of my subscribers:

“Is there a point on the male body you can push just before you reach orgasm that when you push or touch it, it will calm you right down so you can carry on for longer?”

The answer is YES. It’s called The Squeeze Technique.

“The Squeeze” is a classic move… It was “invented” more than 50 years ago. And, it’s a pretty fool-proof method for lasting longer in bed.

Here’s how it works: When you feel the urge the ejaculate, simply “squeeze” with your thumb and index finger — right below the head of your penis. This “squeeze” technique stops the flow of blood to your penis and shuts down the ejaculatory response. It’s effective, and you should give it a whirl.

But there are some drawbacks to the Squeeze Technique…

First of all, you have to stop, which isn’t all that much fun. :-)

Second, it’s pretty obvious what you’re doing.

Whenever possible, I recommend you use “stealth” tricks and techniques, so you can last longer in bed, without her ever even knowing what you’re doing.

What If I Can’t Handle It?

This is a great question because it pretty much sums up the whole problem. Things feel so good, you lose control.

The answer is simple:
You need to decrease your sensitivity — and you have a few options.

Option #1 – “Desensitizing” Products
=========================

You can use desensitizing sprays (Stud100 is a popular one), and many guys experience some success with these things.

But there are obvious downsides to this approach:

1) it’s not really solving the problem, it’s just covering it up

2) the “desensitization” stuff can make her numb too – which is not cool.

So, generally speaking, I wouldn’t recommend going that route.

In my opinion, the best option is to fix it permanently, so you don’t have to rely on short-term “tricks”…

What do I mean? I’m talking about learning the fundamentals of how this stuff really works, and changing your behavior so that you have much greater control, without relying on all sorts of tricks.

Imagine being able to last as long as you want — being able to decide when you want to ejaculate — rather than having to worry about whether you’re going to last long enough.

When you really break it out, there are 2 main aspects to this.

1) Physical

This type of training will directly decrease your sensitivity. The first step is to use proper masturbation techniques, so you train yourself to withstand intense stimulation. If you masturbate the right way, you can get to know your body’s response to sexual stimulation, which will help you last longer when you’re inside a woman.

2) Mental

You also have to overcome performance anxiety and other mental barriers that may be holding you back from experiencing great sex. If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, then you know that I’m a BIG believer in stress relief.

So here’s how to make sure you’re breathing correctly:

When you inhale, make sure that your belly is expanding. Breathe in for 3-4 seconds, and then out for 4-5 seconds.

This is a great thing to do when you’re having sex, because it’ll keep your mind and body calm and clear.

But it’s also a good thing to do throughout your day, too, because it’ll keep your general stress levels at a minimum.
